Study Strategies That Work


TIP: Know what kind of test or quiz you will be taking. Is the test or quiz multiple choice, an essay, short-answer, matching, or fill-in-the-blank?

Study Strategies That Work

+Create and study flashcards by separating out what you know and what you need to study more

+Create your own study game (Jeopardy, Memory, Bingo)

+Study Cornell Notes and vocab sets by folding back the page and testing yourself

+Study with a study buddy (family member or reliable friend)

+Reread your notes, type up your notes, rewrite your notes, highlight important parts of your notes, reorganize your notes into different thinking maps

+Create your own quiz and practice

+Review old quizzes to prepare for a test

+"Live Action Role Play" events from history

+Use your first semester notebook to review important concepts

+Teach someone what you have learned

+Create a song or a rap to review the answers to essential questions; or listen to music that helps you study
